Eric Cioppa is the Maine Superintendent of Insurance. He was appointed as acting superintendent by Gov. Paul LePage on June 1, 2011, and became the official superintendent on September 27, 2011, when he was confirmed by the Maine State Senate.[1][2]


Cioppa joined the Bureau of Insurance in 1988 as a statistician III and served as the supervisor of the Workers’ Compensation section prior to becoming Deputy Superintendent in 1998.[3]

Maine Superintendent of Insurance (2011-Present)

After being named the acting superintendent in June of 2011, Cioppa was unanimously confirmed as superintendent effective September 27, 2011.[3]



Cioppa was appointed as Maine Superintendent of Insurance by Gov. Paul LePage in September 2011.[4]
