A Franklin County School Sales Tax Increase measure was on the April 5, 2011 ballot in Franklin County.

This measure was approved

  • YES 4,366 (56.3%)Approveda
  • NO 3,393 (43.7%)[1]

This measure sought to increase the current county sales tax rate by 1 percent in order to support school debt repayments and other school needs such as repair and renovations to current facilities. School superintendents were urging a 'Yes' vote noting that property taxes will likely be reduced since this was approved and sales taxes will be shared by visitors to the county and not just those that live there. If this measure had not been approved, school officials noted that a levy increase would have been needed to supplement growing needs of the schools.[2]
