Gainesville SPLOST Tax Renewal (2011)
There will be a Gainesville SPLOST Tax Renewal proposition on the spring ballot of 2011 in Hall County for voters in the city of Gainesville.
This is a sales tax that can only be used for funding capital projects within the city. It would be a renewal of the 1 percent addition that is already in place. The city's chief financial officer is hoping this will get renewed again so that the city can continue to pay off its debts. The sales tax generates around $24 million for the city a year, money the city needs for their budget. The CFO hopes that the residents of the city continue to renew the tax as their way of saying they want the city to continue to run and operate at its best.
