Ganges Township Fire & Ambulance Levy Renewals, 2 (August 2012)

Two Ganges Township Fire & Ambulance Levy Renewal measures were on the August 7, 2012 ballot in the township of Ganges, which is in Allegan County.

Both measures were approved

The first measure sought to renew the current fire levy which is set at a rate of $.75 per $1,000 of assessed value for a further four years in order to continue to pay for fire protection services in the township.

Text of measure

The question on the ballot:

'Proposal I: Shall the previously voted increase in the 15-mill tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution on general ad valorem taxes within Ganges Township, be renewed at 0.75 mills ($0.75 per $1,000 of taxable value) for the period of 2013 through 2016 inclusive for Fire Protection; and shall the Township levy such renewal in millage for said purpose, thereby, raising in the first year an estimated $138,607.08?

Proposal II: Shall the previously voted increase in the 15-mill tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution on general ad valorem taxes within Ganges Township, be renewed at 0.3 mills ($0.30 per $1,000 of taxable value) for the period of 2013 through 2016 inclusive for Ambulance Service; and shall the Township levy such renewal in millage for said purpose, thereby, raising in the first year an estimated $55,442.83?[3]
