Gary Williams was a Democratic candidate in the April 24, 2012, special election for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, District 197. The special election was called to fill the vacancy created when Jewell Williams (D) resigned after being elected Philadelphia sheriff in November 2011.[1]

Williams defeated Steve Crum (R) and Milton Street (I) in the special election on April 24, 2012, garnering 75% of the vote. Party ward leaders nominated candidates for the election.[2][3]
