Senate Committees

The Government Operations Committee is a standing committee of the Michigan House of Representatives. Per Standing House Rule 33(2), the committee is made up of five members.[1]

Per Rules 8 and 33 of the Standing House Rules, committees of the Michigan House of Representatives are assigned by the Speaker of the House, except when otherwise ordered by the House.[2] Committees are appointed at the beginning of each two-year legislative session. The first person named to a committee is to serve as its chair, with the second serving as vice chair. In the absence of both, the first majority member appointed after them is to serve as acting chair.[3] All committees operate under Rule 34, known as the Uniform Committee Rules.[4]
