Governor Manchin is target of a federal investigation
By Kyle Maichle
West Virginia Watchdog reported that the Departments of Administration and Highways were served subpoenas by authorities on August 5, 2010. The subpoenas were in response to a federal grand jury investigation. Neither the Governor's office or the U.S. Attorney's office elaborated why the two departments received subpoenas.
The Governor's office issued a statement acknowledging the subpoenas and asked all departments named in the investigation to fully cooperate with federal authorities. The Attorney General's office is representing the Departments of Administration and Highways in the investigation.
