A Grand Haven Township Fire Levy Increase measure was on the August 7, 2012 ballot in the township of Grand Haven, which is in Ottawa County.

This measure sought to increase the current fire levy by a rate of $.59 per $1,000 of assessed value for one year in order to pay for purchasing new fire equipment in the township. It was approved.

Text of measure

The question on the ballot:

Shall an increase in property taxes above the limitations imposed under Article IX, Section 6 of the Michigan Constitution for Grand Haven Charter Township, Ottawa County, Michigan, for all purposes in any one year, be approved for one (1) year, 2012, in the amount of 0.59 mill ($0.59 per thousand dollars of taxable valuation) for all property in the Township, to provide funds to purchase apparatus and equipment for the Township’s Fire/Rescue Department; and shall the Township be authorized to levy the tax? The estimate of the revenue the Township will collect if the millage is approved and levied in its entirety in the 2012 calendar year is approximately $383,021.[1][2]
