The Health and Welfare Committee of the Idaho State Senate has nine members.

Per the Senate Rules, committees of the Idaho State Senate are assigned by the President of the Senate and then approved by a majority vote of the chamber.[1] Committees are assigned at the start of each term.[2] A majority of appointed members make up a committee's quorum.[3] The President is not recognized as an "ex officio" member of any committee.

  • The head of the committee, Sen. Patti Anne Lodge, worked with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare (DHW) to ban the use of paper, folders, and binders for panel members in reviewing rules and statutes. The change was meant to save more than $5,000. Committee members were still allowed to bring paper notebooks into meetings, but the department no longer provided documents of rules in paper form and instead distributed files through electronic format.[4]
