Herman L. Ekern (December 27, 1872 – 1954) served as Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor from 1937 – 1939. He was a member of the Populist Party.[1][2]

  • Speaker in the session of 1907
  • Co-author of the railroad retirement and teachers' retirement acts, and instrumental in establishing the state life insurance code.[2]

Wisconsin gubernatorial election 1926

In 1926 he was the choice of Robert M. La Follette, Jr., and his followers for the gubernatorial nomination, but was defeated in the Republican primary by Fred R. Zimmerman.[2]

United States Senate election 1938

Ekern lost this election.[2]

Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor 1938

In 1938 he was appointed lieutenant governor by Governor Philip La Follette to fill the unexpired term of H. A. Gunderson.[2]
