Recently, a decision was made by the Hinds County Board of Supervisors to require Hinds county public employees to take off one day each month without pay. This move has been projected to save the county $107,000 each month, which officials say will go to rising fuel costs and health expenses for inmates. Since January 2011, property taxes and car tag fees have brought in $33 million, all of which have been allocated for the county’s $55 million budget which started October 1.[15]

Tax rolls are available in a searchable database.[16] Property taxes can be paid online.[17] Tax estimate calculator provided.[18]

However, this information is not particularly useful to the average citizen who wants information on taxes imposed by the county.
