Horse gambling won't be on Nebraska ballot
Lincoln, Nebraska: The state of Nebraska and its residents will not see a horse gambling ballot measure on this year's ballot. The measure, voted down by the Nebraska Legislature on February 18, 2010, would have asked voters whether or not to allow increased betting on both televised and simulcast horse races. The measure, LR277CA, would have allowed the generated money to be used on a possible new race track in Lincoln.
Supporters of the measure argued that the measure would have kept horse racing alive in the state, while counterarguments were made that the measure would have done little to save the industry, and would have had a negative impact on family life.
