ALBANY,New York:Freshman Democratic Congresswoman Grace Meng introduced a Hurricane Sandy relief bill that just recently was passed by the House. The bill allows churches and other places of worship to receive some of the Sandy federal relief funding. While her amendment was not passed in January as part of the larger bill, Republican Chris Smith, from New Jersey, re-wrote the amendment which Meng went on to co-sponsor. The bill was passed 354-72 by the House and now moves on to the Senate.
