ALBANY,New York:Freshman Democratic Congresswoman Grace Meng introduced a Hurricane Sandy relief bill that just recently was passed by the House. The bill allows churches and other places of worship to receive some of the Sandy federal relief funding.[1] While her amendment was not passed in January as part of the larger bill, Republican Chris Smith, from New Jersey, re-wrote the amendment which Meng went on to co-sponsor. The bill was passed 354-72 by the House and now moves on to the Senate.[1]
