Illinois Association of County Assessment Officers is a government sector lobbying association in Illinois.

The Illinois Association of County Assessment Officers has a registered lobbyist with the state of Illinois.[1] Local governments, like Calhoun County, Illinois, pay membership dues to the association.

Name

The association's 990 forms (see section Income and Expenses) list the association as the "County Assessment Officers Association." The website for the association uses "Illinois Chief County Assessment Officers" as the title, while the Illinois Association of County Officials website lists the organization as the "Illinois Association of County Assessment Officers" and several member counties label the organization "Assessment Officials."[2] All of these labels refer to the same organization.

Affiliates

The Illinois Chief County Assessment Officers Association is affiliated with the Illinois Association of County Officials.[6]

Awards

The association gets to nominate a state legislator for an award presented by the Illinois Association of County Officials.[7]

Expertise

Membership in the association allows members to gain expert knowledge of the situation of assessors statewide. For example, Dave Henderson, chair of the state's Chief County Assessment Officers Association's legislative committee, estimates that two-thirds of county assessors statewide have not been in compliance with the classification guidelines in assessing different areas, perhaps either because they were unaware of those parameters or lacked the tools to enforce them.

"A lot of these things were set up almost 25 to 30 years ago, and a lot of the people who set these up are no longer around," said Henderson, Grundy County's assessor.[8]
