The association is an umbrella association for county waste management associations. These associations, like the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County, have registered lobbyists.[1] County governments pay membership dues to the associations.

The Illinois Counties Solid Waste Management Association itself had no registered lobbyists with Illinois as of 2010.

Purpose

The website of the organization has a section where members can post templates of documents they have used for other governments to use.[2]

Issues

The organization has stated it believe pharmacies should be required to take back unused medications and to dispose of them by incineration, as a response to trace amounts of medication showing up in drinking water.[3]
