GREENFIELD, Indiana: Republican Beverly Gard, a 23-year veteran of the Indiana State Senate, announced on Tuesday that she would not be seeking re-election in 2012.[1]

Gard, a former biochemist in the healthcare industry, first assumed the District 28 seat in 1988. She currently serves as chair of the Energy and Environmental Affairs Committee and is known for her work on environmental issues.

25 of the 50 state Senate seats will be up for election on November 6, 2012.
