James Gerard Riley is a judge on the Cook County 4th Subcircuit in Illinois. He was elected to this position in November of 1996. He currently serves in the Probate Division. He was most recently retained on November 4, 2014, for a term that expires on December 6, 2020.

Riley ran unsuccessfully for election to the Illinois Supreme Court in 2012. He sought the seat vacated by Thomas R. Fitzgerald, but was defeated by Justice Mary Jane Theis after receiving 25.3% of the vote.
