The signature-filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was April 22, 2014. LaTanya Garrett defeated Nicole Wells Stallworth and four others in the Democratic primary. David Bradley was unopposed in the Republican primary. Garrett defeated Bradley in the general election.[3][4][1][5]
