There was a Jerome County Lease-Purchase Jail Agreement measure on the May 25 ballot in Jerome County.

Although this gained more support than the November election, it still failed to reach the super majority needed, it was defeated

  • YES 1,492 (64.8%)
  • NO 808 (35.2%)Defeatedd[1]

This was the second attempt by county officials to get voter approval for a lease agreement plan to build a new jail facility. This proposal was for a slightly smaller facility then the November proposal, payments over a 30 year period to pay for the jail would be around $985,000. County officials were hoping to be able to better inform voters and address questions better so the new plan has a better chance to pass.[2]
