SPRINGFIELD, Illinois: Recently re-elected Jesse L. Jackson, Jr. may face resignation in the wake of reports of misusing campaign funds. Local news has reported that Jackson has entered into a plea deal which would include giving up his Congressional seat and possibly have him serve time in prison. Jackson has not been seen much in the public since June when he went into treatment for bi-polar disorder. His absence caused a stirring during the November election, where he made no public appearances and did very little to campaign for his re-election. He won the election despite being outside the public's eye for the duration of the campaign. Defense lawyer Dan Webb has been acting on Jackson's behalf to broker a deal, he could be forced to resign and plead guilty to mis-use of funds. If he does resign, a special election would be held to fill his position. The deal is expected to be concluded by the end of the year.[1]
