James Merrill Jeffords

James Merrill "Jim" Jeffords (b. May 11, 1934), was an Independent member of the U.S. Senate from the state of Vermont. He was first elected as a Republican in 1988 and switched to independent on June 6, 2001. He served until January 3, 2007.[1]
