Russell ran in the 2011 election for Mississippi House of Representatives District 3, but lost to Tommy Cadle in the primary on August 2, 2011. Republican candidate William Arnold ran unopposed in the August 2 Republican primary. The general election took place on November 8, 2011.[1]
