The Joint State Government Commission is a joint legislative service agency of the Pennsylvania General Assembly.

Per the Senate and House Rules, joint committees of the Pennsylvania General Assembly are assigned by the President Pro Tempore and by the Speaker of the House. Vacancies in the joint committees are filled by the President Pro Tempore and by the Speaker.[1][2]

The Joint State Government Commission is the primary nonpartisan research organization that serves the General Assembly. It provides the legislature with a readily available mechanism for conducting interdisciplinary studies. The Commission is comprised of a diverse research staff experienced in statistical analysis, survey methods, report writing, making policy recommendations and drafting legislation.[3][4]
