Joyce Dickerson
Joyce Dickerson was a 2014 Democratic candidate who sought election to the U.S. Senate from South Carolina.[1] Joyce Dickerson lost the general election on November 4, 2014. Dickerson defeated former York County Councilman Sidney Moore and Harry Pavilack in the Democratic primary.[2]
Biography
At the time of her candidacy, Dickerson was serving her third term in the Richland County Council, and she previously served as chair of the National Foundation for Women Legislators. Prior to her political career, she worked as a compliance auditor and cosmetologist. Her husband is an Air Force veteran, and she has been active in Democratic politics since the 1980s. Dickerson graduated from Midlands Technical College and Benedict College.[3][4][5]
