Judy L. McMahon is a family court judge for the Ninth Judicial Circuit in South Carolina.[1] She was first elected to the court by the South Carolina General Assembly in February 1983 and was most recently re-elected on February 3, 2010.[2][3] Her current term expires on June 30, 2016.[4]


McMahon received her undergraduate degree from Winthrop College in 1966, her master's degree from Florida State University in 1967, and her J.D. from the University of South Carolina in 1976.[2]


Before her election to the court, McMahon worked as an attorney in private practice in Charleston, South Carolina. She also previously served as a municipal court judge for the City of Charleston from 1978 to 1983.[2]
