KY Senate President Williams expected to announce run for Governor
FRANKFORT, Kentucky: Reports suggest that current Kentucky State Senate President David Williams is going to run for governor in 2011. The official announcement is expected to come September 1, with current Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner Richie Farmer filling out the ticket as lieutenant governor.
Williams has served as Senate president since 2000, when the Republican Party gained control of the chamber for the first time in modern history. Last month businessman Phil Moffett announced he would be seeking the Republican nomination for governor with state representative Mike Harmon as his running mate.
