Kansas State Representative to introduce right to life measure
TOPEKA, Kansas: Following the lead of other states that are considering abortion-related measures, Kansas lawmakers appear to be in position to consider a right-to-life constitutional amendment this legislative session. House Representative Randy Garber will introduce the measure during 2011 state legislative session. The amendment would end abortion throughout the state and recognize "the right to life of every human being."It is the only proposal in the legislature that would end the practice of abortion in the state, according to reports.
A 2/3rds vote in both chambers of the Kansas State Legislature is required to refer an amendment to the ballot. If the legislature approves of the amendment, the measure would appear on the November 2012 general election ballot.
