New Jersey General Assembly District 7
Gordon was a candidate for the 2011 Democratic Party nomination for District 7 of the New Jersey General Assembly. Gordon was bracketed with Yvette Sterling in the June 7 primary, however, Sterling's candidacy was found invalid by the Secretary of State's office in late April and her name was removed from the ballot. Following that, Gordon dropped out of the race. Troy Singleton and incumbent Herb Conaway are also seeking the Democratic Party nomination. The top-two voter getters will advance to the general election on November 8, 2011.
With redistricting moving nine-term Republican incumbent Joseph Malone, III from the 30th to the 7th District, NJ Spotlight has identified the 7th as a potential place for the GOP to pickup a seat in the Assembly.
