Kevin Faulconer is the current Mayor of San Diego, California. He was first elected to the position in 2014.

He previously served on the San Diego City Council, representing District 2 from 2002 to 2014.[1]

Biography

Faulconer graduated from San Diego State University in 1990. Prior to his election to the San Diego City Council, Faulconer worked in public relations, serving at one time as vice president of a leading firm.[2]

Although all municipal elections in San Diego are conducted on a nonpartisan basis, Faulconer was endorsed in his bid for mayor by the San Diego County Republican Party.[3]

Runoff election

Faulconer defeated David Alvarez in the runoff election on February 11, 2014.[4]

Primary election

Faulconer faced Patrick Finucane and Jim Morrison in the June 28, 2010 primary election. Faulconer won over 60 percent of the vote, thereby securing a second term without the need for a runoff.[6]
