Koth ran in the 2012 election for Wisconsin State Assembly District 35. He ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on August 14, 2012, and lost against Republican Mary Czaja and Independent Patrick Tjugum in the general election on November 6, 2012. Incumbent Republican Tom Tiffany ran for State Senate District 12.[1]
