Kiel New Construction Referendum (2008)

The Kiel New Construction Referendum was a school bond issue on the November 4 ballot in the School District of Kiel, which is in both Manitowoc and Calumet Counties. The purpose of the referendum was to issue debt in the amount of $17,430,000, with the funds going to the school budget. The funds would have been used to construct additions to the middle, high and Meeme LEADS Charter schools; renovate elementary and high schools; improve district athletic fields; and purchase new equipment, furnishings and technology.

Text of measure

Be it resolved by the School Board of the Kiel Area School District, Manitowoc, Calumet and Sheboygan Counties, Wisconsin that there shall be issued pursuant to Chapter 67 of the Wisconsin Statutes, general obligation bonds in an amount not to exceed $17,430,000 for the public purpose of paying the cost of upgrade and improvement projects at Meeme LEADS Charter School and Kiel Middle school and sites; constructing additions to, including an auditorium addition to the High School, and renovating, upgrading and improving Zielanis Elementary and Kiel High Schools and sites; construction and improvement projects at District athletic fields; and acquiring equipment, furnishings and technology hardware and software District-wide.
