King County Charter Amendments, 3 (November 2010)
All three measures were approved
Ordinance 2009-0496: Streamline the filing of campaign-related finance reports This amendment will eliminate the requirements for candidates to file financial reports with the County. The State Public Disclosure Commission publishes all campaign reports, making the county filing unnecessary.
Ordinance 2010-0328: Highlight the County’s responsibility in unincorporated areas This amendment will change the county charter so that the duties and responsibilities of the county commission towards unincorporated areas is better defined. Also it will define the county's duties to the local economy as well as the environment and define the county's priorities to both urban and rural areas.
Ordinance 2010-0169: Sheriff’s Bargaining Powers for Labor Contracts Under this charter amendment, the County Executive will be able to negotiate wages, but the Sheriff will be the one to negotiate working conditions. Several counties in the state have this arrangement.
- YES 335,142 (52.74%)
- NO 300,304 (47.26%)
PubliCola had come out in favor of all three of these proposed charter amendments believing that all three would benefit the county and promote positive changes.
