This measure sought to renew the current senior services levy of $.85 per $1,000 of assessed property for a further five years in order to fund senior services offered in the city as well as the operation of recreational facilities. Although the current levy does not expire until 2012, city officials wanted to put it to a vote early in case it did not pass and that it saves the city money.
