  • NO 9,446 (58.56%)Defeatedd[1]

This measure sought to implement a $.59 tax, per $1,000 of assessed property value, to be in place for a period of five years in order to help pay for jail services and other sheriff services provided by the county.[2] Local police authorities warned residents that unless this tax was passed, issues could arise in the county due to insufficient money to support operations. Criminals would be set free due to insufficient number of beds and officers would be let go. The levy would generate around $3 million in taxes a year to support police services.[3]
