LA registrar's office to contact voters caught in alleged registration scam
October 21 2008
LA Board of Supervisors orders registrar to double-check affidavits submitted by GOP firm. Young Political Majors, a firm hired by the California Republican Party, is alleged to have tricked voters into switching their registration to Republican. To ensure that no one had their registration changed without their knowledge, LA County election officials will contact voters whose names appear on affidavits submitted by the firm.
Firm's owner faces fraud and perjury charges in separate case
The owner of Young Political Majors, Mark Jacoby, will be arraigned next month on fraud and perjury charges. He is charged with registering to vote using a Los Angeles address that was not his residence. He has said that the charges are a political ploy by California's Democratic attorney general.
