The Labor and Industry Committee is a standing committee of the Kentucky House of Representatives.

Per the House Rules, committees of the Kentucky House of Representatives are assigned by the Committee on Committees. Committees are assigned at the start of each term.[1] A majority of appointed members make up a committee's quorum.[2] The Speaker is not recognized as an "ex officio" member of any committee.

Function

The jurisdiction [of this] committee shall be matters pertaining to the work-force and workplace not specifically assigned to another committee; labor unions; collective bargaining; liquefied petroleum gas and other flammable liquids; electricians; plumbers and plumbing; wages and hours; garnishments; safety and health of employees; child labor; employment agencies; apprenticeship; unemployment compensation; workers’ compensation; consumer protection; industrial weights and measures.[3][4]
