The Lake Local School District Bond Issue appeared on the February 3, 2009 ballot in Stark County for voters in the Lake Local School District. The question facing voters was whether to approve a $29.9 million bond and permanent improvement levy.[1] The measure failed by a wide margin.[2]Defeatedd

There are two mills in question:

  • A 4.4-mill issue for construction.
  • A 0.5-mill levy for improvements

The bond payback period would be 28 years and the amount requested for the bond is $29.9 million.

The annual cost to the owner of a $100,000 home in the school district, if Issue Number 1 passes, is $150.06.

According to superintendent Jeff Wendorf, the slow economy and "a growing general dissatisfaction with how Ohio funds education" are two of the big complaints school officials have heard.
