Lakewood City Charter Amendments, 3 (November 2010)
All three measures were defeated
The first measure sought to allow the city council to set a special election up 180 days after an initiative petition was submitted.
The second measure sought to allow the city council to set a special election up to no more than 180 days after a referendum petition was submitted.
The third measure sought to allow the impounding of vehicles by unlicensed drivers as well as the need to pay bonds to get the vehicle back and fees to be paid on land where vehicles were stored.
- YES 18,513 (36.2%)
- NO 32,623 (63.8%)
The City Council unanimously voted to oppose the car impound measure, some stating that the measure could encourage people to not do business in the city. Proponents of the measure stated that the main motivation behind the measure was to crack down on illegal immigrants.
