Larry Pressler is a 2014 Independent candidate seeking election to the U.S. Senate from South Dakota.

Biography

Pressler earned a J.D. in 1971 from Harvard Law School, a master's in public administration in 1966 from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government, an Oxford Diploma in public and social administration as a Rhodes Scholar from Oxford University in 1964 and a B.A. in government from the University of South Dakota in 1964.

Pressler was a lieutenant in the U.S. Army and served two tours of combat duty in Vietnam. He was a member of the United States Congress representing South Dakota as Republican from 1975-1997. He served in the House from 1975-1979 and in the Senate from 1979-1997.[1]
