This measure sought to increase the current seniors levy by a rate of $.25 per $1,000 of assessed value for a period of eight years in order to further pay for senior services offered in the county. Advocates in favor of this measure had been stressing the importance of the services offered and had mentioned that with additional cuts in spending there was less money available for these services. The money will be used to help pay for in home services which are offered as well as help pay for the senior facility which is run in the county.

The question on the ballot:
|Shall the limitation upon the total amount of general ad valorem taxes imposed upon real and tangible personal property for all purposes in any one year in mills (.25 per $1,000) on taxable value of such property to be levied in the years 2012 through 2019 both inclusive, for the purpose of providing necessary services for senior citizens within the county?
