Leon County Charter Amendments, 6 (November 2010)
Five of the six amendments were approved
The first measure sought to reduce the signature threshold for charter amendment petitions. The current rate is 10 percent of eligible county and district residents, the new percentage would be 7 percent of the county voters and 5 percent of each district.
The second amendment would limit campaign donations to candidates for county commission and constitutional offices to $250 per contributor.
The third amendment sought to make it so that the county would have to enact environmental standards and procedures, but would not limit local governments from enacting sterner requirements.
The fourth would amend the charter to reflect the current practices of the Tourism Development Council.
The fifth amendment would set the rules for electing and terminating the County Administrator, a majority plus one of the County Board members.
The sixth amendment would set the rules on what County Commissioners can instruct other employees under other controls to do.
