Two Liberty School District Levy Replacement measures were on the February 14, 2012 ballot in the Liberty school district area which is in Spokane County.

Both measures were approved

The first measure sought to replace the current school levy which is set to expire with one set at a rate of $2.95 per $1,000 of assessed property value for a further three years in order to continue to pay for general fund maintenance and operational costs in the district.

The question on the ballot:

Proposition 1: The Board of Directors of Liberty School District No. 362 adopted Resolution No. 11-12/02, concerning a proposition to finance maintenance and operation expenses. This proposition would authorize the District to meet the educational needs of its students by levying the following excess taxes, in place of an expiring levy, on all taxable property within the District, for support of the District’s General Fund maintenance and operation expenses: Collection years: 2013-2015; Approximate Levy Rate/$1,000 Assessed Value: $2.95; Levy Amount: $1,430,000, $1,460,000, $1,520,000. All as provided in Resolution No. 11-12/02. Should this proposition be approved?

Proposition 2: The Board of Directors of Liberty School District No. 362 adopted Resolution No. 11-12/03, concerning a proposition to finance educational technology improvements. This proposition would authorize the District to acquire and install educational technology equipment (including classroom computers) throughout existing school facilities to improve student learning and make other technology improvements, and levy the following excess taxes, in place of an expiring levy, on all taxable property within the District: Collection years: 2013-2015; Approximate Levy Rate/$1,000 Assessed Value: $.24, $.23, $.22; Levy Amount: $115,000. All as provided in Resolution No. 11-12/03. Should this proposition be approved?[3]
