This measure sought to renew the current emergency levy which is set at a rate of 8.9 mills as well as add an additional 3 mills to compensate for projected budget shortfalls expected in the next school year. The levy, if approved, would still not cover all costs of the district so cuts to programs and other areas would still need to be made by the board. School officials also noted that the district continues to grow with increasing student populations and also needs to be able to keep up with the increased demand on facilities.[3]
