A Linn County 911 Sale Tax Implementation measure was on the April 3, 2012 ballot in Linn County.

This measure was approved

  • YES 1,135 (50.49%)Approveda
  • NO 1,113 (49.51%)[1]

This measure sought to implement a sales tax set at a rate of half a cent in order to help pay for upgrades to the county 911 emergency response system. Proponents of the measure noted that the system is outdated and it limits how quickly emergency response teams can answer calls or get to those in need. The system also cannot support current technology, such as information via text messages, which are often used to inform about emergency needs.[2]
