Louisiana Salaries for Law Enforcement, Amendment One (2007)
The purpose of the amendment was to constitutionally safeguard existing and future statutory supplemental pay levels for full-time local law enforcement officers and firefighters.
|Louisiana Amendment 1 (October 2007)|
Amendment One passed with 59 percent voting for the measure and 41 percent voting against it.
Constitutional Amendment 1 would wall off state salary supplements for law enforcement officers and firefighters from any future reductions, effectively limiting budget policy options and making tax increases for other programs likelier.
