Lydia Ann Gutierrez was a nonpartisan candidate for California Superintendent of Public Instruction in the 2014 elections. She previously ran for the California State Senate as a Republican

Biography

Gutierrez's started working as a teacher, but later left the field following the death of her father. She then worked as an administrator for F/A 18 Radar and, later, acting supervisor in Cost Estimating for the Bradley Tank parts division. She then returned to education.

Gutierrez has credentials for multiple subjects for Kindergarten through 12th grade and bilingual education. She teaches at UCLA's Math Project Center X. She is also a fellow of the Cal STate Long Beach Writing Project, and lectures for the Los Angeles County Teachers Mathematics Association.[1]
