Two Lyons Village Current & Park Levy Renewal measures were on the March 6, 2012 ballot in the village of Lyons which is in Fulton County.

Both measures were approved

The first measure sought to renew the current operations levy which was set at a rate of $.41 per $100 of assessed property value for a further five years in order to continue to pay for operational costs in the village.

  • YES: 116 (71.17%) Approveda
  • NO: 47 (28.83%)

The second measure sought to renew the current parks levy which was set at a rate of $.05 per $100 of assessed property value for a further five years in order to continue to pay for parks and recreational costs in the village.[1]

  • YES: 110 (66.67%) Approveda
  • NO: 55 (33.33%)[2]

Proposition 1: A renewal of a tax for the benefit of the Village of Lyons for the purpose of current operating expenses, at a rate not exceeding 4.1 mills for each one dollar of valuation, which amounts to $0.41 for each one hundred dollars of valuation, for 5 years, commencing in 2012, first due in calendar year 2013.

Proposition 2: A renewal of a tax for the benefit of the Village of Lyons for the purpose of parks and recreation, at a rate not exceeding 0.5 mill for each one dollar of valuation, which amounts to $0.05 for each one hundred dollars of valuation, for 5 years, commencing in 2012, first due in calendar year 2013.
