The Maine Correctional Facilities Building, Repairs and Renovations Bond Issue, also known as Bond Issue 2, was on the November 4, 1986 ballot in Maine as a legislatively-referred bond question, where it was approved.[1] The measure issued $16 million in bonds to build, repair and renovate state correctional facilities.[2][3]

Background

In 1984, $10,035,000 in bonds were issued for building and repairing prisons. This included the following allocations for construction and renovation: $7,465,000 for the Maine Correctional Center, $2,300,000 for the Maine State Prison and $270,00 for the Charleston Correctional Center.[1][4][5]
