The Maine Prison Construction and Renovation Bond Issue, also known as Bond Issue 4, was on the November 6, 1984 ballot in Maine as a legislatively-referred bond question, where it was approved.[1] The measure issued $10,035,000 in bonds for building and repairing prisons. This included the following allocations for construction and renovation: $7,465,000 for the Maine Correctional Center, $2,300,000 for the Maine State Prison and $270,00 for the Charleston Correctional Center.[2][3]

Aftermath

In 1986, a further $16 million in bonds was issued to build, repair and renovate state correctional facilities.[1][4][5]
