The Maine Remove Restrictions on the Carrying and Use of Weapons Initiative did not make the November 3, 2015 ballot in Maine as an indirect initiated state statute. Petitions for this measure do not expire until April 18, 2015, which means this measure had the potential to qualify for a 2015 or 2016 election ballot. However, no signatures were submitted by the January 22, 2015, deadline, thereby disqualifying the measure from the 2015 ballot. The measure, which was being sponsored by Erick M. Bennett, sought to remove restrictions on the carrying and use of weapons.[1]

In order to land this initiative on the November 4, 2014, ballot, supporters would have needed to collect 57,277 valid signatures by February 3, 2014. Petitioners missed this deadline, but petitions for this measure do not expire until April 18, 2015, which means this measure had the potential to qualify for a 2015 or 2016 election ballot. However, no signatures were submitted by the January 22, 2015, deadline, thereby disqualifying the measure from the 2015 ballot.[1]
